 EMIA Cameroon stands for Combined Military Academy. It organizes military Concours (competitive exams) and trains military personnel.



About EMIA Cameroon (In English)

  • Location: Carrefour EMIA, Yaounde, Cameroon.
  • Year of creation: January 18, 1960.
  • Status: Public
  • Area of ​training: National Defense.
  • Training streams: Category A (grade of the second lieutenant), Category C (grade of lieutenant 1st or 2nd echelon), Category D (a) (grade of Captain 1st echelon), Category D (b) (Grade of Captain).
  • Conditions of Entry into EMIA: By competition at Baccalaureate level (Baccalaureate or GCE A-Level) and License or Engineering level.

Conditions for applying to Category "A" in EMIA

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality; 
  • Be between 18 and 23 years old; 
  • Hold a baccalaureate in any series or a GCE / AL in 3 subjects and justify a year of higher education successfully; 
  • Be single with no dependent children; enjoy their civil rights; Be of good character; To be in good health;

Conditions for applying to Category "B1."

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality; 
  • Be at least 30 years old; 
  • Hold a baccalaureate in any series or a GCE/AL in 03 subjects except religion or an equivalent diploma; 
  • To be in good health; 
  • A total of 5 years of minimum service.

Application conditions for Category "B2 (b)"

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality; 
  • Be at least 32 years old; Hold a higher education diploma; 
  • To be in good health; 
  • Total 05 years of minimum service;

Conditions for applying to Category "C."

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality; 
  • Be at least 26 years old; 
  • Hold a works engineer diploma in one of the following specialties: Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or hold a higher education diploma in one of the following fields: Law, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Psychology, Natural Sciences, Diplomacy; enjoy their civil rights; 
  • To be in good health; 
  • Be of good character;

Conditions for applying to Category "D(b)."

  • Be of Cameroonian nationality; 
  • Be 30 years old maximum for general practitioners, pharmacists, dental surgeons, and veterinarians;
  • Be 35 years old maximum for medical specialists; 
  • Hold a certificate in one of the specialties of medicine used in the Army (For medical specialists);
  • Enjoy their civil rights; 
  • To be in good health; 
  • Be of good character.

How Much Does it Cost to Enroll in EMIA Cameroon?

The cost of training in EMIA is 50,000 Francs. This cost is subsidized by the State.

  • Single examination center: Yaounde.
  • Competitive exam period: February every year.

Composition of the file for the Military Concours in Cameroon (EMIA Yaounde)



Below is the list of files or documents required for enrollment into EMIA:

  1. 1 handwritten application stamped at 1000 CFA francs, signed by the candidate and addressed to the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence;
  2. 1 cardboard folder;
  3. 1 certified copy of the birth certificate dated less than three (03) months;
  4. 1 certified copy of the required diploma;
  5. 1 certificate of presentation of the original of the diploma necessary;
  6. 1 certified copy of the certificate of success of the 1st year of higher education (passage to 2nd year);
  7. 1 study program;
  8. 1 certificate of Cameroonian nationality issued by a magistrate;
  9. 1 extract from the criminal record, bulletin n°3 dating from less than 03 months issued by a magistrate;
  10. 1 celibacy certificate;
  11. 1 medical certificate;
  12. 1 A4 envelope stamped at 500 CFA francs, bearing the following handwritten information: Surnames and first names, date and place of birth, region of origin, department of origin, diploma, language, series, and complete address;
  13. A receipt for payment of the sum of 20,000 CFA francs representing the costs of the competition was issued by the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Defense.
