How to Turn On and Off Dark Mode on Facebook/Messenger

The much-awaited Facebook Messenger's Dark Mode feature is now available worldwide. In the past, users needed to send a moon emoji to their contacts to activate the feature.

This followed a post by Facebook stating that Facebook Messenger's dark mode provided lower brightness while maintaining contrast and vibrancy. It also said that dark mode will reduce your phone's glare for use in low-light situations.

Previous rollouts of this feature began in early March as an Easter Egg, though it wasn't available to users in all regions. To activate the Dark Mode feature then, Facebook Messenger users had to send the crescent moon emoji to someone using the app.
